Overcoming the Fear of Charging What You're Worth: My Journey and How You Can Do It Too.

DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TO CHARGE AND ACTUALLY GET PAID FOR YOUR COACHING?

ARE YOU ONLY SELLING THE SMALL KITS IN YOUR NETWORK MARKETING BUSINESS?

First, in order for you to APPLY THESE PRINCIPLES I need you to understand where I am coming from...

I DON'T DO THINGS THE WAY OTHER PEOPLE DO THEM...

In fact, I really can't. It's probably a personality flaw I have. My whole life, I have questioned everything I have ever seen.

This is what led me to discover a proven system to learn what works and do it MY WAY, so that I can stand out and create a BRAND NEW NICHÉ of my own.

IN THIS ARTICLE...

I will go over the 3 BIGGEST FALSE BELIEFS that keep you from making more money with your Coaching and Network Marketing Business and how to overcome them TO BE FREE TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS AND YOUR OWN.

Let’s get real for a second: Pricing yourself as a coach or network marketer can feel like trying to juggle flaming pineapples while riding a unicycle through a room full of angry hedgehogs—just one slip and your credibility’s rolling out the door.

Maybe you’re nervous about offering that big, life-changing package because you think, “What if they say no? What if I can’t deliver?” I get it. I’ve been there, too, picking a price out of thin air just so I could start helping people as fast as possible.

But here’s what I learned: true confidence in your pricing doesn’t come from some magic formula. It comes from knowing your worth, recognizing your results, and being honest about just how much your work impacts a person’s life.

No Cookie-Cutter Price Tag—Only Your Unique Value

There’s no universal chart that says, “If you have X certification or Y experience, you must charge Z.” Your pricing isn’t meant to fit into someone else’s template. Your gifts, your strengths, and your way of serving are one-of-a-kind—and that uniqueness sets your value.

It’s tempting to stick to those tiny, “safe” packages—like offering just one bite of dessert instead of the whole slice. Sure, if you’re a network marketer, the smallest bundle might feel less nerve-wracking, but let’s be honest: those mini-offers rarely deliver the big transformation your clients are craving. By playing small, you’re basically serving a snack when what they really need is the full meal deal.

HOW YO DO IT IS BUILD MORE VALUE IN WHAT YOU SELL.

I’m going to help you add more value to what you do because—let’s face it—there are about 8 billion people on this rock we call home. If even one solid tip from me helps you truly connect with just 1,000 of them and turn those folks into die-hard fans and loyal customers, then let this article be the next step in your journey.

You also have to know this about me too

I didn’t exactly grow up in the land of motivational posters and morning affirmations. Personal development? I barely knew it existed.

I didn't pick up a single self-help book until I hit my late 30s. Then, in a 60-day span, I managed to get fired from not just one, but two companies. Yup, two gigs gone in two months. All while being a father to 5 children and the sole bread winner.

If there were a gold medal for professional faceplants, I’d have been wearing it proudly.

So, could I really get paid well to share my insights after that kind of track record? Could the tough lessons I learned be valuable enough that people would part with their hard-earned cash? It sounded like a stretch—but stranger things have happened.

Picture this if you can: It’s April 2015, and I’ve just decided to try this whole “online coaching” thing. I was doing videos everyday trying to get people to enroll in my network marketing business.

People were watching and then messaging me for advice. Most of them were already enrolled in the company we were bulding with and my wife felt like I was giving too much away for free. I LOVE BEING HELPFUL but the truth was, I was like a world class pianist playing in a shopping mall. I KNEW I WAS MEANT FOR MORE.

Angela just said, "Why don't you charge for your coaching?

- I had no certifications

- I had no website

- I had no funnels

- I had no courses, systems or email lists...

I had nothing we all think we need to grow a coaching business.

I just had some experience mentoring people in our Network Marketing business and a lot of people watching my videos and connecting with what I was talking about.

In every video, I was just talking about my own struggles and what I was learning to fix it.

THAT'S IT AND IT WAS WORKING!

When it came time to charge for my coaching, I felt like a librarian suddenly asked to do stand-up comedy. I literally forgot I can actually help people. I doubted me, but I trusted my wife’s unwavering confidence and decided to lean on her belief in me until I found my own

I listened to a training from RAY HIGDON (who I would many years later hire to coach me privately) around choosing your pricing.

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and just decided to charge $1000 for 30 days of coaching with me. That would be 4 weekly sessions and that was it! I NEEDED TO JUST GET PAST THIS IF I WAS EVER GOING TO GROW!!

I did another video, announced I was doing coaching and told people to text me if they were interested. After I got off the video and threw up...

I got 10 text messages that day!

I got on the phone with all 10. Spent an hour with each of them. Asked great questions and offerd them all my coaching package.

5 PEOPLE SAID, "YES!" and my brain exploded! In less than 48 hours there was $5000 in my paypal account. (No, I didn't have any other way to accept payment.)

THEN FAST FORWARD 9 YEARS:

I’ve generated almost 6 million dollars in coaching revenue, spoken to thousands of people on global stages, authored two personal development books (Unleashed: Fired Twice Freedom Forever and Unleash Your Strengths), and helped countless individuals transform their lives.

I share this not to brag, but to show you what’s possible. Because trust me—I know what it’s like to doubt your own value.

This journey taught me that charging your worth isn’t about scouring the internet for a “standard rate” or timidly offering the tiniest, safest package.

It’s about stepping into who you really are and owning the life-changing results you deliver. Yet so many of us hold back—like brilliant performers who end up humming quietly in the corner when they should be hitting the high notes center stage. We shrink when we ought to stand tall, and we apologize for our own worth as if it’s something to hide.

We worry, “What if I’m not good enough?” or “What if clients think I’m a fraud?” But these nagging doubts are nothing more than distorted funhouse mirrors, warping our view of who we really are and keeping us from stepping into our full potential.

Let’s dig into why this happens and how to break free.

The False Beliefs That Keep Us Stuck

1. Not Tracking Results or Gathering Testimonials

Without solid proof of your impact, you’re basically building your confidence on a wobbly tower of guesswork. Think about it: if you never ask clients to trace their journey—from where they began to how far they’ve come—you’re left shooting in the dark. And when you’re shooting in the dark, doubt has a funny way of creeping in.

That’s where testimonials step in. They’re not just feel-good quotes; they’re the fuel that keeps your credibility engine running. Every story of a strengthened marriage, improved health, fatter paycheck, or higher self-esteem is a reminder that your guidance truly makes a difference. When you see the real-world changes you’ve helped spark, your confidence isn’t just “felt”—it’s earned.

Without testimonials, you hurt three groups of people:

  • Your Client: If you never ask someone to acknowledge their growth, they might never give themselves credit. By helping them articulate their progress, you’re reinforcing their victory and your role in it.

  • You, The Coach or Marketer: Without proof, you feed the idea that what you do isn’t special. Testimonials are permission slips for your subconscious, saying, “Look! You made a difference.”

  • Future Clients: Potential clients need to see success stories. Without them, they remain skeptical, unsure if you can help. Testimonials help them trust in the possibility of their own transformation.

2. Time-Equals-Money Mentality

The other reason we don’t bump up our rates is that we’re stuck treating time like the ultimate price tag. We act as if the clock is the boss—like years of blood, sweat, and stubborn persistence get erased just because sharing the final insight only takes fifteen minutes.

But let’s be real: you’re not charging for that quick conversation; you’re charging for the countless hours (and maybe a few tears) you poured into becoming the expert you are today.

And that, my friends, is not something we can just price out at an hourly rate. That is something far more valuable than that. So the truth is that we should be looking to see if we are fairly compensating ourselves for what we truly did to get ourselves to become that valuable for another human being.

3. Not Recognizing the Full Scope of Our Impact

Another reason we don’t bump up our prices is that we forget just how far our work actually reaches. Sure, if I offer a coaching program that helps someone score more leads, close sales, and build passive income streams, it’s clear that I’m boosting their bank account. But let’s zoom out a bit. If I’m saving them time and money, then I’m also helping them eat healthier (maybe even hire that personal chef they’ve always dreamed of), take better care of their mind and body, and reduce stress at home. Less money stress can mean fewer arguments and happier relationships—who wouldn’t pay more for that?

In other words, when we’re setting our prices, we need to be honest about the ripple effects of what we do. We’re not just improving income; we’re improving health, relationships, and overall well-being. Your services aren’t a single drop in the bucket—they’re the splash that makes the whole pond better. And that’s worth more than we usually give ourselves credit for.

These three reasons highlight the importance of why people not only don’t know how to price their services, but also tend to underprice them way too much.

HERE ARE EXAMPLES OF WHAT MY STUDENTS DID

Nancy’s Leap of Faith

Nancy spent years in network marketing, tirelessly mentoring her team for free. She was that go-to person—patient, caring, always ready to help. Yet every time the idea of charging for her coaching crossed her mind, she’d recoil. “Who am I to ask for money?” she’d think. Nancy believed helping was something you just gave away, no strings attached.

But everything changed after Nancy started embracing her unique CliftonStrengths and working with me through the Unleash Your Strengths system. She began to see, bit by bit, that she wasn’t just chatting with people—she was guiding them to breakthroughs. She realized that her friendly advice was actually specialized insight molded by her life experience. And that insight had real worth.

On her very first attempt to ask for payment, she decided to go to God and ask what is my value? She went big and offerd: $997 for a coaching package. Her heart pounded, her voice trembled, and the fear of rejection loomed large. But guess what? Her client didn’t flinch. They said yes. Nancy was stunned. She cried tears of joy when she realized she’d been underestimating herself all along. Testimonials and reflection played a massive role in this shift—she finally saw concrete evidence of the changes she’d already made in people’s lives. With that proof, the old fear crumbled.

Daelyn’s Breakthrough in Self-Belief

Daelyn had been coaching for years, doing good work and helping clients grow, yet every time she glanced at her price list, she felt a twinge of shame. “I know I should be charging more,” she’d whisper to herself, “but what if they say I’m too expensive? What if they go elsewhere?” She’d watch others in her field command high fees and wonder why she couldn’t muster the same boldness.

When Daelyn started focusing on her strengths and tracking results, she noticed a pattern: her clients consistently praised her ability to cut through the noise and give them exactly what they needed to hear. They improved their businesses, relationships, and confidence. Armed with these testimonials—tangible proof of her value—Daelyn finally took the leap and doubled her fees. Almost immediately, a new client happily paid her over $3,000 for the same work she once sold for half the price.

That moment was electrifying for Daelyn. It wasn’t just about the money; it was about embracing her true worth and trusting that her years of experience, training, and personal sacrifice mattered.

Valerie’s Bold, Spontaneous Ask

Valerie’s struggle was a quiet one—she’d always felt like she “should just give it away.” She carried around this notion that if something came naturally to her, it shouldn’t have a price tag. Despite the hours spent learning, the late nights strategizing, and the constant trainings and certifications, she still had a block when it came to asking to be paid for her expertise.

Then came a pivotal moment. Valerie was chatting with a potential client who offhandedly asked, “How much?” Caught off-guard and battling old fears, Valerie just blurted out “$199.” for a single coaching session and to her surprise, the client didn’t hesitate—they paid on the spot. Valerie felt something shift. It was as if a mental chain snapped.

She realized that her ease in helping others was a gift worth compensating, not a flaw to hide behind. Testimonials would later reinforce this revelation, each success story shining a spotlight on why she deserved to stand by her price.

Embracing Your Strengths and Purpose

Remember, I didn’t start with personal development books tucked under my arm. I got fired—twice—while supporting a large family. I know what it’s like to feel unworthy. Yet here I am, having helped thousands, written books, and spoken from international stages. This didn’t happen because I was special from birth—it happened because I decided to track results, embrace my strengths, and trust in my God-given abilities. I chose to believe that if my heart called me to this, then the people who needed me would invest accordingly. All I had to do is be COMPLETELY HONEST with myself and offer a rpice that felt authentic.

WE ARE ALL INFINITELY UNIQUE

Our pricing should be no differnt. After all... NO ONE can do what I do. Just like NO ONE can do what you do. GOD has uniquely prapard you for something special to offer people. Just be honest, think of what you really do for people and charge what feels right.

Find Strength in Community and the stories of your peers

If you’re still feeling shaky, you don’t have to figure this out alone. Get around people just like you who are making their own strides towards the same things you are.

That’s why I built the Unleash Your Strengths Community. It’s a space filled with people just like you—folks who’ve stepped out of their comfort zones, charged what they’re worth, documented their successes, and learned that their work is more than just a service—it’s a transformation.

Within this community, you’ll find others who once trembled at the thought of stating their price. You’ll hear from people who overcame their fears and soared beyond what they believed possible. Each testimonial, each story, each hard-earned success will fuel your confidence and remind you that what you do is real, meaningful, and worth every penny.

Your Invitation to Step Forward

The false beliefs that whisper, “You’re not worth it,”"They won't pay that" or “Keep it small,” are nothing more than illusions. I’ve seen too many people suffer under them, never daring to charge what their work is truly worth.

I wrote this article to shine a light on what’s possible. If someone like me—someone who began without any personal development background, got fired twice in 60 days, and started from scratch—can do this, why not you?

The path isn’t always easy, but it’s simple: track your results, gather testimonials, recognize that your time and expertise are invaluable, and embrace the full scope of your impact on people’s lives. Own your strengths, invest in your belief, and trust the process.

Because here’s the truth: the world needs what you bring. It’s time to stand tall, charge what reflects your true value, and let your clients celebrate their own growth every step of the way. You’re not just offering a service—you’re offering a new reality, for yourself and for those you’re destined to help.

You’ve seen how changing your mindset, documenting real results, and recognizing the full scope of your impact can transform your coaching or network marketing business.

Instead of playing small, it’s time to rise above those old, nagging doubts. Charge what you’re worth, attract clients and team members who truly get your vision, and step into the spotlight with confidence.

But here’s the real win: by embracing your unique strengths, you’re not just another coach or network marketer. You’re the spark that sets off a chain reaction of growth—both for yourself and the people you help.

Highlight Your Impact: Don’t just point to the numbers—show how your work improves health, relationships, and overall happiness. Let them see the full ripple effect of your expertise.

Leverage Your Strengths: Play to your natural gifts. When you build your offers around what makes you shine, clients will feel that authenticity and know they’re in great hands.
